What Are You Trying to Make, and What Does It Need to Do for Your Business?
A business usually starts with an objective, not a production technique. You may need customers to understand a new service, employees to learn a process, investors to understand an opportunity, hotel guests to picture an experience, patients to feel reassured, or prospective buyers to understand why your product or company is different.
Those are very different communication problems, even though several of them may eventually involve narration. That is why I want to understand the purpose before we talk about performance. What does the audience already know? What do they need to learn? What should they feel? Is the goal to sell, explain, reassure, train, introduce, welcome or simply make something easier to understand?
Once those questions are clear, the creative choices become much easier.
Sometimes the right answer is a professional voice actor. Sometimes the script needs attention first. Sometimes the pacing is the problem. Sometimes the project needs broader production help. My job is not to force every project into a voiceover solution. It is to help you figure out what will make the communication work.
Why Does Our Company Video Look Good but Still Feel Like Something Is Missing?
A company can invest in good photography, graphics, editing, music and a strong message and still end up with a video that does not quite connect. Sometimes the problem is not what the audience is seeing. It is what they are hearing.
The narration may feel too formal for the people you are trying to reach. It may sound rushed, overly polished, too much like an announcer or simply disconnected from the pictures. Every word may be correct, but the person saying those words may not sound as though he understands why they matter.
That can happen with a brand video in Miami just as easily as it can with employee training in Boca Raton, healthcare communication in Boynton Beach, hospitality content in Miami Beach, tourism work in the Florida Keys or product content for a marine, boating or yachting business in Broward County.
Before I think about the voice, I want to understand the message. If professional narration is the missing piece, great. If the problem turns out to be somewhere else, I would rather identify that than sell you something you do not need.
We Need Someone to Narrate This. What Kind of Voice Do We Actually Need?
Once a business realizes narration may help, the next question is often what kind of voice fits the project. That is about much more than choosing someone whose voice sounds good.
A healthcare organization may need to reassure a patient in one piece and communicate with physicians in another. A manufacturer may need to explain a product to engineers and then describe that same product to customers who do not speak technical language every day. A hotel, resort or tourism company may want to sound inviting and natural without turning the message into a stereotypical tourism commercial. A luxury real estate developer may need confidence and polish without making a property film feel like a hard sell.
The relationship between the speaker and the listener changes the performance.
Before I record, I am thinking about what the story is really about, who I am talking to, what that person already knows and what would naturally cause me to say those words to them.
Nobody wants to feel as though a company is talking at them. The goal is to sound as though a real person is talking with them.
That is why the right person for the project is not simply the person with the biggest or most impressive voice. It is the person who understands what you are trying to say and who needs to hear it.
We Tried an AI Voice or Recorded It Ourselves. Why Does It Still Not Sound Right?
There are projects where an AI voice or an internal recording may be perfectly adequate. There are also situations where a company listens back and realizes that saying every word correctly is not the same thing as communicating the message.
A professional voice actor is making decisions about pace, intention, emphasis, phrasing, pauses and relationships between ideas. Those choices are usually subtle, but they affect whether the audience believes the message, understands it and keeps listening.
The same thing can happen when someone on staff has a genuinely good voice. Having a nice voice and knowing how to tell a story are not the same skill. We all know people who can tell a story over dinner and hold an entire room, and other people with perfectly pleasant voices who somehow lose everyone in the first few minutes.
When I listen to an audition or my own work, I often close my eyes and simply listen. Does this sound like somebody talking to me? Does he understand what he is saying? Or does it sound like somebody reading copy?
That distinction can make a tremendous difference in a company video, commercial, training program, presentation or other business communication.
What If We Have Never Hired a Professional Voice Actor Before?
That is completely normal, particularly for small and mid-sized businesses.
A production company in Miami or Fort Lauderdale probably knows exactly how professional voiceover works. An advertising agency, creative director or experienced marketing department probably does too.
But plenty of successful South Florida businesses have a small team covering almost everything. The same person may be involved in sales, marketing, social media, customer communication, vendors, events and whatever else needs attention that day.
I understand that world because I have spent my entire adult life running businesses too.
You do not need to understand audio specifications, know how to direct an actor, figure out whether your project is technically corporate narration or eLearning, or know which file format your editor needs.
Tell me what you are making, who it is for and what you need the finished piece to accomplish. If professional voiceover belongs in the solution, I can take care of the voiceover part without turning it into another job for you.

What Should We Be Able to Count On After We Hire You?
You can 100% count on me taking the time to understand your project, communicating clearly, treating you fairly, meeting the deadline and making this part of your job easier.
I have spent more than four decades working under production deadlines and have never missed one.
Projects still change. Legal may revise a line, an editor may need another sentence, a pronunciation may change or somebody may decide a word needs to sound slightly different.
Recently, a client working on a project for a major professional sports team asked me to adjust the pronunciation of one very small word. My original pronunciation was not incorrect. It simply was not how people in that particular region commonly said it.
We clarified what they wanted, I matched it and the project moved forward. That is how I believe professional service should work.
I also keep notes so that if you come back weeks or months later for a pickup, I can work to match the original recording as closely as possible. Even the time of day can affect a voice slightly.
That technical consistency should be something I think about, not something you have to worry about.
What If We Are a Small South Florida Company and Just Need Somebody to Help Us Get This Done?
Then you are exactly the kind of company I want to hear from.
You do not need a creative department, casting director or detailed voiceover brief. You may be the owner, salesperson, marketing person and social-media department all at the same time. You may simply know that the company video is not working, the presentation needs narration, the employee training needs to sound more professional, the commercial needs a human voice or the AI recording you tried is not representing your company the way you want it to.
You may also be creating a Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or streaming ad yourself and simply need help making the finished piece sound as professional as the business behind it. That is a perfectly legitimate project, and it does not become less important because it was not created by a large agency.
If you already have a script, send it. I am happy to provide a custom audition and I do not charge for auditions. If you want to talk first, call me. If you are here in South Florida and there is value in meeting face to face, I will come sit down and listen. Whether your company has five employees or fifty thousand, the fundamental question is the same: what are you trying to accomplish, and how can I help make the communication work better?
Let’s Start With What Your Business Is Trying to Accomplish
You may ultimately need a professional voice actor, but that does not have to be the starting point. You may be trying to sell a product, train employees, explain a service, promote a destination, present a property, improve a customer experience, produce a video, create a social campaign or simply make your company sound as professional as it actually is.
Tell me what you are working on, who needs to hear it and what you want the finished piece to accomplish. If professional voiceover is part of the solution, I can help with that. If the project needs more than voiceover, we can talk about that too.
The voice is one tool. The goal is helping your business communicate.
